According to Microsoft, over 800 million devices run Windows 10 making it one of the world’s most popular desktop operating systems.
However, Microsoft is now warning Windows 10 users to update their operating system immediately because of two “critical” vulnerabilities. They say that vulnerabilities are potentially “wormable,” meaning infected computers could spread viruses and malware silently, without you even knowing about it.
According to Simon Pope, Microsoft’s Director of Incident Response, there are likely hundreds of millions of vulnerable computers at this time. He urges users to patch affected systems as quickly as possible because of the elevated risks associated with wormable vulnerabilities like these, and downloads for these can be found in the Microsoft Security Update Guide.
The Take Away
Windows 10 users that have enabled automatic updates or are protected under our Total Security protect are already safe. For those who update manually, they can click the search button and type “Windows Update” to access the update tool. For a quick how-to, see the video we made on it 🙂
Stay safe out there.
