October is National Cybersecurity Awareness Month

Happy Friday October is perhaps the scariest month of the year, which is why in 2003 the U.S. Department of Homeland Security declared October National Cybersecurity Awareness Month (NCSAM). We are all on-line, every day - why not try to keep ourselves safer through education?

Cypac is pleased to announce our participation in the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency’s (CISA) annual campaign. The hope is that together, we can greatly increase our cybersecurity posture online, at work, and at home by taking a few basic steps.

Take Control of Your Digital Safety

Throughout the month of October, get to know the basics of cybersecurity at cisa.gov/cybersecurityawareness-month. This is a great resource for IT teams or anyone who could use a little refresher. The site will provide ways to learn and test your knowledge about:

• Enabling multi-factor authentication (MFA) for all important online activities to provide an additional layer of security • Using long, random and unique passwords • Think before you click: recognize and report phishing • Why updating your software is so important

We look forward to continuing to help the community get better with cyber basics to make us all more secure.

To quote Samuel Johnson, a dictionary lexicographer from the late 1700's,

"People need to be reminded more often than they need to be instructed."

Keep an eye out for announcements throughout the month and check out our social media feed where we'll be posting the top 16 cybersecurity tips during the month of October!

Stay safe out there -A Oh, and if you're interested, I we did a spot on Think Tech Hawaii recently called How Cyber Secure Are You? Always looking for ways to help protect the community. Thank you in advance for helping us educate and inspire others to stay safe out there. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LHgJmdBut4Q
